Blink Twice is a 2024 horror mystery film directed by Zoe Kravitz and produced by Zoe Kravitz, Channing Tatum, Bruce Cohen, Tiffany Petersons, and Garret Levitz.

The story follows a waitress named Frida (played by Norma Ackie) who meets tech billionaire Slater King (played by Channing Tatum) at a fundraising gala.

Frida being in awe of Slater accidentally stumbles upon them and a true connection arises immediately. Soon after he invites her and her friend to his private island. Everyday is sunny and beautiful and filled with mind altering drugs, everyday feels exactly the same and Frida starts to notice. Warnings are being shown to her left and right but through the excitement she cannot see the horror and the debauchery that is truly unfolding in sight.

I give this movie 9 bones out of 10!

Note:

I really enjoyed this film also have in mind that during this time I was delving into the Jeffrey Epstein files religiously, discovering things that I probably should not have tapped into at the time. This film is a perfect depiction of what occured on Epstein island. And when you realize this it is so disturbing that it will chill you to the core.

The fact that this truth was buried and is slowly being uncovered, such inhumane acts, so much sacrifice and suffering. So many things in the film point to cult worship : white ritual clothing, desensitizing drug use, and occult symbolism.

Todos los días son soleados y hermosos, pero están llenos de drogas que alteran la mente; todos los dias se sienten igual y Frida comienza a darse cuenta. Las advertencias se le presentan por doquier, pero, a través de la emoción, no puede ver el horror y la depravación que se desarrollan ante sus ojos.

Nota:

Disfruté mucho esta película. Cabe mencionar que, durante ese tiempo, me dedicaba a investigar a fondo los archivos de Jeffrey Epstein, descubriendo cosas que probablemente no debería haber descubierto en aquel momento. Esta película retrata a la perfección lo que ocurrió en la isla de Epstein. Y cuando uno se da cuenta de esto, resulta tan perturbador que te hiela la sangre.

El hecho de que esta verdad estuviera oculta y se esté descubriendo poco a poco, actos tan inhumanos, tanto sacrificio y sufrimiento... Muchos elementos de la película apuntan a un culto: vestimenta ritual blanca, uso de drogas para insensibilizar y simbolismo ocultista.

Metamorphosis is a 2019 South Korean horror film that was directed by Kim Hong-Seon. The story follows a priest whose family is damned to die by a demon. The first scene looks straight out of Constantine, where the priest (Jung Soo) is trying to exorcise a demon out of a girl. As soon as Jung Soo believes he is completing the ritual, the demon tricks the girl's mother into thinking that the Priest is going to rape her.

Upon hearing her daughter, she immediately tries to break down the door, causing the mirror placed by Jung Soo on the door to fall and break the exorcism. The demon makes the girl fall to her death, but before that, the demon curses Jung Soo and his family.

Jung Soo's family is forced to leave their hometown after people in their community start a stigma because of the failed exorcism. They move into a new house, thinking that they will start fresh, unbeknownst to the terrors that await them.

They are terrorized by strange and loud noises in the night, which they later find are caused by their neighbor. Gang-goo, the father of the family and Jung Soo's older brother, walks over to the neighbor's home to ask them to turn down the noise. Upon arriving at his neighbor's home, he is greeted by animal carcasses. The neighbor does not answer the door, but since the door is open, Gang-goo walks straight in. He is horrified by what he sees and immediately contacts the police. When he urges the police to check his neighbor's home, it is not as he witnessed it himself.

In time, the demon slowly starts to mimic itself among the family members, taking hold of each of them.

I give this movie 8 bones out of 10!

Note:

I really enjoyed this film, regardless of the reviews I read after seeing it. The movie does take inspiration from films such as Constantine, The Exorcist, and The Conjuring; however, it does it tastefully in true Asian horror film form. I especially loved how this film was directed; there are some very beautiful scenes, including the crows on the neighbor's roof and the priest's room filled with blood. The fact that the demon slowly mimicked the family members was the best part. It made me believe that this is truly how a demonic possession should occur, slowly and subtly.

Just imagine your family members slowly stepping out of character, but not enough for you to truly know what is wrong with them or to even think that they need psychological or spiritual help.

I didn't want to tell you too much about the film, but if you do decide to watch it, I hope that you enjoy it!

Los Rostros del Diablo es una película de terror surcoreana de 2019 dirigida por Kim Hong-Seon. La historia sigue a un sacerdote cuya familia es condenada a muerte por un demonio. La primera escena parece sacada de Constantino, donde el sacerdote (Jung Soo) intenta exorcizar un demonio de una niña. En cuanto Jung Soo cree haber completado el ritual, el demonio engaña a la madre de la niña haciéndole creer que el sacerdote la va a violar.

Al oír a su hija, intenta de inmediato derribar la puerta, lo que provoca la caída del espejo que Jung Soo había colocado en la puerta, rompiendo así el exorcismo. El demonio hace que la niña caiga y muera, pero antes de eso, maldice a Jung Soo y a su familia.

Nota:

Disfruté mucho de esta película, independientemente de las críticas que leí después de verla. La película se inspira en películas como Constantine, El Exorcista y El Conjuro; sin embargo, lo hace con buen gusto, al más puro estilo del cine de terror asiático. Me encantó especialmente la dirección; hay escenas preciosas, como los cuervos en el tejado del vecino y la habitación del sacerdote llena de sangre. Lo mejor fue que el demonio imitara lentamente a los familiares. Me hizo creer que así es como debe ocurrir una posesión demoníaca, lenta y sutilmente. Imaginen a sus familiares saliendo poco a poco de sus personajes, pero no lo suficiente como para que sepan realmente qué les pasa o siquiera piensen que necesitan ayuda psicológica o espiritual. No quería contarles demasiado sobre la película, pero si deciden verla, ¡espero que la disfruten!

Tenement is a Cambodian horror film from 2024 that was directed by Sokyou Chea and Inrasothythep Neth. It is heavily inspired by Thai, Japanese, and Korean horror alike.

The main character (Soriya) is a manga horror artist who does not know much about her past. Upon her mother's passing, she stumbles upon some photos, and one photo in particular speaks out to her: an old, decrepit apartment building. Aching to get away from her home in Japan and to seek inspiration, she decides to go to Phnom Penh in Cambodia, where the building is located. She takes her photographer boyfriend (Daichi) along with her, unbeknownst to the horrors they are about to live. 

Upon arriving at the Metta building, they learn from their taxi driver that the building is said to be haunted, and he warns them not to go there. There is also tension and unsettling silence when they reach the apartment building; all the residents stop what they are doing to stare at the young couple.

They also later learn that one of the apartments is inhabited by Soriya's estranged aunt (Mao). Mao is thrilled to finally get to know her niece, and she insists on taking care of her and her boyfriend.  Soriya starts to have very vivid and disturbing dreams, which we later find out are caused by a residential cult that is run by Mao. The original name for the film in Khmer is "The Heir of the Building." We are told that Soriya's mother committed a sin that caused the building to become haunted; however, the actual sin is never revealed.

I give this movie 4 bones out of 10!

Note:

This is a slow-paced film with very few jump scares. The horror throughout is subtle, yet there are some really impactful scenes nearing the end of the film. The thing that bothered me was the change of the dialogue from Cambodian to Japanese. I did watch this movie with subtitles, and it still seemed off to me. I admired the beauty and horror of the apartment building more than the film itself. The fact that the plot was not very good and that the actual sin was never mentioned made it very frustrating for me. I did like the scene where they finally show Mao's true side, but I could really do without the ambiguous moments.

Remember that I watch these films for myself but also for you. I want to show you the good, the bad, and the ugly. But I also want you to watch these films and provide your own conclusions.

Nota: Esta es una película que tiene un ritmo muy lento. El terror es sutil en todo momento, pero hay algunas escenas realmente impactantes hacia el final. Lo que me molestó fue el cambio de diálogo del camboyano al japonés. Vi la película con subtítulos y aun así me pareció extraña. Admiré la belleza y el horror del edificio más que la película en sí. El hecho de que la trama no fuera muy buena y que nunca se mencionara el pecado real la hizo muy frustrante. Me gustó la escena donde finalmente muestran la verdadera cara de Mao, pero podría prescindir de los momentos ambiguos. Recuerden que veo estas películas por mí misma, pero también por ustedes. By the creators of "The Notebook" and "Barbarian," "Companion" is a riveting film full of thrilling moments as well as comedic ones.

Iris, the main character, is seen shopping in a supermarket, where she meets her boyfriend, Josh. They go on a road trip to visit their friend, who has a beautiful home by the lake. Upon arriving, Iris seems anxious about seeing Josh's friends. He reassures her that everything is going to be okay. Iris and Josh seem to have a picture-perfect relationship, even though Iris seems to be more attentive than Josh. There are moments between them where you can see his disdain towards her. It is later revealed that Iris is a robot, and she has been programmed to fit Josh's needs. He mods Iris to his satisfaction, even though it is illegal to mod a robot.

Josh's intentions with Iris become really dark when it is revealed that he is just using her. However, Iris is not the dumb robot that he programmed her to be. When she decides to take revenge on Josh and his friends, she reprograms herself to become more intelligent.

I give this movie 9 bones out of 10!

Note:

This movie is not a horror movie, but it still caught my attention. The story is very engaging, especially the facade behind Josh's relationship with Iris. To him and his friends, she is just a fuckbot; to Iris, he is her soulmate. Iris is played by Sophie Thatcher of "Yellowjackets" fame. I love how Iris saw beyond Josh's mental and physical abuse, and she rose to destroy him and anyone in her path. Sophie's compelling performance can be experienced in every scene.

Iris, la protagonista, es vista comprando en un supermercado, donde conoce a su novio, Josh. Hacen un viaje por carretera para visitar a su amigo, que tiene una hermosa casa junto al lago. Al llegar, Iris parece ansiosa por ver a los amigos de Josh. Él le asegura que todo estará bien. Iris y Josh parecen tener una relación perfecta, aunque Iris parece ser más atenta que Josh. Hay momentos entre ellos en los que se puede apreciar su desprecio hacia ella. Más tarde se revela que Iris es un robot, programado para satisfacer las necesidades de Josh. Modifica a Iris a su gusto, aunque es ilegal modificar un robot.

Las intenciones de Josh con Iris se vuelven realmente oscuras cuando se revela que solo la está utilizando. Sin embargo, Iris no es la robot tonta que él programó. Cuando decide vengarse de Josh y sus amigos, se reprograma para volverse más inteligente.

Probablemente volvería a ver esta película por su estética y porque fue simplemente un placer verla.

Esta película no es de terror, pero aun así me llamó la atención. La historia es muy cautivadora, especialmente la fachada que esconde la relación de Josh con Iris. Para él y sus amigos, ella es solo una imbécil; para Iris, él es su alma gemela. Iris es interpretada por Sophie Thatcher, famosa por "Yellowjackets." Me encanta cómo Iris vio más allá del abuso físico y mental de Josh y se alzó para destruirlo a él y a cualquiera que se cruzara en su camino. La cautivadora actuación de Sophie se puede apreciar en cada escena.

The Substance

"The Substance" is a body horror film that grips you from the get-go.

A young Elisabeth Sparkles, played by Demi Moore, 50, suddenly loses her job, reeling her into a cycle of depression. Her boss is played by Dennis Quaid, and he is anything but a frugal man. After being dismissed from her in-demand daytime aerobics show, Elisabeth learns about "The Substance," which catapults her into another chapter of her life, where she becomes young and vibrant again.

"The Substance" is a fluid that is injected into her older body so that she can switch to another body that represents her new and younger self.

She is told to make sure that she makes the switch of her bodies and the fluid within an expected timeframe, but she gets greedy and decides that she no longer wants to switch back to her older body. In doing so, she starts to deplete her older body, which in turn causes issues with her younger body.

I would rewatch this movie due to the aesthetic and because it was a pleasure to watch. I give this movie 9 bones out of 10!

Note

What really caught my attention in this film was the meticulous attention to detail, evident in the bright colors, shapes, furniture, and clothing. Some of my favorite scenes were the shower scenes, which were reminiscent of Psycho, and the final scene, where Elizabeth becomes everything but herself, reminded me of Dario Argento's Deep Red or Suspiria. Demi Moore's performance in this film is phenomenal!

"La Sustancia" es una película de terror corporal que te atrapa desde el principio.

Una joven, Elisabeth Sparkles, interpretada por Demi Moore, de 50 años, pierde repentinamente su trabajo, sumiéndola en una espiral de depresión. Su jefe, interpretado por Dennis Quaid, es todo menos un hombre ahorrativo. Tras ser despedida de su popular programa de aeróbic diurno, Elisabeth descubre "La Sustancia", lo que la catapulta a otra etapa de su vida, donde recupera la juventud y la vitalidad. "La Sustancia" es un fluido que se inyecta en su cuerpo envejecido para que pueda cambiar a otro que represente su yo nuevo y más joven. Se le pide que se asegure de realizar el cambio de sus cuerpos y del fluido dentro del plazo previsto, pero se deja llevar por la codicia y decide que ya no quiere volver a su cuerpo envejecido. Al hacerlo, empieza a debilitar su cuerpo mayor, lo que a su vez causa problemas con su cuerpo joven. 

Probablemente volvería a ver esta película por su estética y porque fue simplemente un placer verla. ¡Le doy un 9 de 10!

Nota:

Lo que realmente me cautivó de esta película fue la atención al detalle, como los colores brillantes, las formas, los muebles y la ropa. Algunas de mis escenas favoritas fueron las de la ducha, que me recordaron a Psicosis, y la escena final, donde Elizabeth se transforma en todo menos en ella misma, me recordó a Rojo Profundo o Suspiria de Dario Argento. La actuación de Demi Moore en esta película es fenomenal.

Weapons is a supernatural horror film directed by Zach Cregger, who also directed Barbarian.

Starring Julia Garner as Justine and Josh Brolin as Archer, this eerie film will have you questioning everything. In a classroom of 18 students, 17 of them suddenly go missing. Upon reviewing the cameras from each of the children's houses, the parents and police discover that the children went missing at exactly 2:17 A.M. Besides the timeframe, there are no other clues to their whereabouts or who or what took them. The teacher, Justine, is concerned about her students, and the parents believe that she has some involvement in their disappearance. The parents don't feign in showing their disgust towards her. Yet, regardless of how she is being treated, she perseveres relentlessly to learn where the missing children are being held. Archer, father of Matthew, is also out to pursue his own investigation, and in doing so, he uncovers so much more than he could ever imagine.

The film follows the interconnected story of each character, each one more twisted than the last. This film shows a depiction of alcohol abuse and drug use.

I don't consider this film a rewatch; one time was enough for me. I give this movie 7 bones out of 10!

Note

First of all, I feel that the title of this film should be another one. Although it does tie to some aspects in the film, it has your mind generating a different scenario. Perhaps that is what the writer and director intended. I don't want to say too much about the film because I know that I will spoil it for you. What I can tell you is that I did not expect to be surprised as much as I was. The plot twist was a blow to my face.

Antes que nada, creo que el título de esta película debería ser otro. Aunque se relaciona con algunos aspectos de la película, te hace pensar en un escenario diferente. Quizás esa era la intención del guionista y del director. No quiero hablar demasiado sobre la película porque sé que te la voy a arruinar. Lo que sí puedo decir es que no esperaba sorprenderme tanto. El giro de la trama fue un golpe bien fuerte.
